To enhance communication and visibility of delivery arrivals, an automated SMS notification is sent to the designated site contact when certain conditions are met.
How It Works
When a site contact is added to a delivery and a valid mobile number is provided, the system will automatically send an SMS notification containing the estimated time of arrival (ETA) for the driver.
Trigger Point for Notification
The SMS notification is triggered when the driver selects “Depart” from the stop immediately preceding the delivery location. This ensures that the ETA reflects the driver’s most current journey status.
ETA Calculation
The ETA included in the SMS is calculated based on:
- The driver’s location at the time of departure from the previous stop
- The distance between that location and the delivery destination
This provides the recipient with a dynamic and accurate estimate of when the delivery is expected to arrive.
Key Benefits
- Improves customer experience through proactive communication
- Reduces the need for manual follow-up or ETA inquiries
- Provides real-time visibility of delivery progress to site contacts
