The following are the steps that you should go through to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to driver tracking and other device settings.
Step 1
Checking the drivers device settings using the GoDesta 'Query Driver Device' function.
The Driver needs to be logged on for the Queries to be able to work.
There are two ways to access the "'Query Driver Device'" function
Driver Device Query - View Driver
- On the Dashboard with in the Fleet List select the "view driver icon"
- Select "Device Snapshot History" from the "Driver and Asset Information menu"
- Device Snapshots are saved so you can review settings during investigations.
- Device queries are triggered as part of the drivers start of day checklist process.
- If you are looking at the device snapshot from the start of day it will most likely say "0" App restarts. you will need to to perform a new device query to get a more up to date Snapshot.
- To perform a query select the "Request Current Snapshot" button
- The driver needs to be logged on for the query to be able to run.

Key Items to Check
- App Version - is the app version installed the current version?
- For App Update Refer to article - How do I update the GoDesta Driver app on my Android device?
- Location Service Status set to "Granted - Always"?
- Android Devices, Location Services might not come through as 'Always' it might only ever come through as 'While in Use'.
- App Restarts - Has the driver restarted their app multiple times today?
Driver Device Query - Job Details screen
- Select the "View Job Details" Button
- Select the "Job Details" Menu by selecting the three vertical dots
- Select "Query Driver Device" - the driver needs to be logged on for the query to be able to run.
Step 2
Checking Mobile App Status History
- Select "Mobile App Status History" from the "Driver and Asset Information menu"
- If you are seeing that the driver is restarting the app or disabling GPS you should compare the times against the jobs they are performing so you can identify any discrepancies and further investigation may be necessary.
Step 3
Check the driver has not turned enabled 'Battery optimisation for the GoDesta Driver app
- Open "Settings"
- Select "Apps"
- Select "settings icon" - top right corner
- Select "Special access" - Listed under "Advanced"
- Select "Battery optimization"
- Scroll Down to Select "GoDesta Driver"
- Select "Don't optimize"
- Select "Done"
Note:
The driver needs to attend the office in person to Check the above settings if poor tracking continues to be an issue.
